Pornography: My position

PRO-SEX

I see pornography as an expression of sexuality (but not exclusively of sexuality). This is still with the knowledge that it is a multi-million dollar industry in the US and that this fact will also come in to shape the production and quality of pornography.

Men and Women can enjoy pornography. There is no denying a development of the industry over the assumption of a male consumer, yet as time has passed and the industry has seen the need to evolve into other technologies and resources, it has also seen women consumers as a niche, and later as an essential part of the market.

Pornography gives way to fantasy and in its representations, women are not just poor, defenseless victims. There is an agency in pornography, from the actress that determines what acts she wants to perform, to the very core of using the body to make money off of it, to those women who become icons in the industry, sell books, give interviews, direct and produce other pornographic material.

Pornography breaks with taboos, because it is an industry that profits from breaking societal rules, exhibits the prohibitions and enhances them. It is constantly looking for new things that might lure the consumer (from whichever sex or gender). This process of looking into societal taboos to exploit them has had another consequence, admitting that women are part of the market and that they seek other expressions of sexuality too, that there is not a singular heterosexuality and that the possible expressions conform an endless list. This is reflected by the popular saying "If it exists, there is porn of it. No exceptions". This has been deemed rule #34, which is followed by rule #35: If there is no porn of it, it must be created.
